Olivia and Valerie celebrating with Princesses Elsa and Anna during a Little Treasures princess party

Turning Wishes into Wonder

Thanks to Treasure Coast Hospice, the dream of becoming princesses recently came true for 11-year-old Olivia and her younger sister Valerie. Olivia, a patient being cared for by Treasure Coast Hospice’s Little Treasures program, and her family were scheduled to set sail on a Disney Princess Cruise when unforeseen circumstances arose, resulting in them having to cancel the opportunity.

Music Therapist Liz Lung learned of the heartbreaking news and gathered her Treasure Coast Hospice colleagues together to develop a plan to create a Princess Party Experience that would bring smiles and laughter to Olivia and her sister.

The care team, dressed in their finest fairy outfits, arrived at the home bearing joyful news from the Kingdom of Arendelle, decreeing a day of Disney Frozen-inspired dreams. The sisters graciously accepted their princess dresses and the invitation to the magical party scheduled for later that week. The parents received a spa basket with massage gift certificates to replace the massages they had booked for the cruise!

A few days later, Royal Princesses Anna and Elsa, along with several Treasure Coast Hospice staff members, appeared, and the festivities commenced, under the direction of A Fairy Tale Come True. Olivia and Valerie dressed in their gowns, made wishes on fairy dust, received glitter tattoos and enchanting makeovers, and were officially crowned Princesses Anna and Elsa, matching their royal counterparts.

The party continued, and so did the smiles and laughter, as the young sisters listened to stories, sang songs, played games, and danced beneath a colorful ribbon. The celebration culminated with a scrumptious lunch and a whimsical cake in honor of Princess Olivia’s upcoming birthday.

Heartfelt occasions like this one, made possible by the Treasure Coast Hospice Foundation through the Marlene K. Filer Celebrities Fore Kids Endowment Fund, are a testament to the compassion and dedication that make Treasure Coast Hospice a cornerstone of the community.

“We are blessed in so many ways with the entire team at Little Treasure,” said the girls’ mom, Mabel Amador. “Special thanks to our real-life Fairy Godmothers. They not only made our Disney Princess Experience magical in fairytale style, but they are truly our family’s real-life, day-to-day fairy godmothers. They are our VILLAGE. They genuinely care for us and are always 100% advocating for our family. The support, attention, peace of mind, joy, and love they bring to our family go above and beyond. We feel seen and not alone on this very scary, medically fragile journey with our girl.”
